The Macromolecular X-ray Core Facility is available for use by individuals at the medical school trained in X-ray crystallography. The director of the facility is Dr. Ya Ha, and the facility is managed by Dr. James Murphy. Medical school users may schedule the use of any instrument by clicking the "Online Scheduling" menu on the left. Please adhere to the user policies described there. There is a limited amount of machine time available for use by non-Medical School users. You may schedule machine time by contacting:

X-Ray

The X-ray Crystallography Facility is a Yale University School of Medicine core facility. The purpose of the X-ray crystallography core facility is to provide equipment, training, assistance, and technological innovations for determining three-dimensional structures of proteins and other macromolecules. The facility is dedicated to X-ray diffraction and crystallographic studies and utilizes state of the art technology to understand the structural basis for biological function. Potential users should meet with facility staff to discuss their individual projects.

Consultations or collaborations on macromolecular crystallization, X-ray characterization of crystals, processing and quality analysis of data, structure determination, molecular modeling, molecular docking and structure visualization, and analysis are also available. The core also provides a resource for training, education and consultation in X-ray crystallography techniques. (See Recent News)

For those interested in learning more about X-Ray crystallography, a half semester course (Principles of Macromolecular Crystallography, MB&B 760b4) is offered by the Department of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry (MB&B).

A 10-day practical course will be taught in May 10-19, 2006 in MB&B and the School of Medicine. MB&B 760b4 is required for the practical course.
